Abstract. Fibrocolonoscopy is a modern and valuable diagnostic and therapeutic method with a high safety profile, whose wider and targeted use in colorectal cancer screening programs will help to reduce the high morbidity and mortality from this disease in our country. The health care of patients undergoing endoscopic intervention – fibrocolonoscopy – is varied, and its quality, timeliness and coordinated delivery impact on accurate diagnosis and timely treatment. This article discusses the feasibility of developing a tool to coordinate endoscopic nurse activities within a consistent and comprehensive continuity of care algorithm.
The aim of this study was to develop a structured health care algorithm that would optimize endoscopic nursing practice.
Materials and Methods: The study was based on a statistical database including 3743 records of the activity of the Interventional Gastroenterology Unit at the University Hospital “Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital” – Sofia, for the period 1 January – 14 November 2024. Statistical, documentary and observational methods were used.
Results and Discussion: The analysis shows that the responsibilities of the endoscopy nurse include a variety of activities and roles, the quality performance of which requires an algorithm that coordinates the care of the different/sequential stages of her activities. The developed algorithm and functional profile of the nurse’s activity are based on the application of the Service Blueprinting approach.

Key words: health care, fibrocolonoscopy, endoscopy, service blueprinting
