Board Games at the Library

Do you need a short break between lectures and study sessions? Would you like to spend enjoyable yet meaningful time with friends and colleagues? At the Central Medical Library, you can now use board games free of charge, including chess, Scrabble, association games, and others.

We are launching this initiative in response to feedback from students at Medical University – Sofia. It also marks the beginning of our new series, “You said it – we did it!”, through which we will show you how recommendations from our users and readers are turned into real improvements to the library’s services and spaces. We will not be able to implement every suggestion, but we will strive to put into practice those ideas that benefit our community and are within our means.

What are the rules of the game?

Board games are available only to students and staff of Medical University – Sofia who hold a valid library card. Using the games is completely free.

Some basic rules to follow:

  • Borrow a game of your choice from the Registration Desk.
  • Use it inside the library building, for example in the Events & Study Room, the Creative Space, and other common areas, except for the quiet zones: Reading Room 1, Reading Room 2, and the Computer Room.
  • Please handle the boxes, boards, pieces, cards, and all other components with care. In the event of accidental damage or a missing piece, simply inform the member of staff at the Registration Desk when returning the game. This will help us determine whether the game can continue to be used by others.

You can also support the initiative by donating a board game that you no longer use, provided that it is in good condition and includes all essential components. Donated games will be added to the library’s collection for other library users and university fellows.

Play, connect, and turn your free time into a workout for the mind!
