Opening of the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The 2026/2027 academic year at Medical University – Sofia will officially begin on Monday, 14 September, at 10:00 a.m.

The opening ceremony, bringing together newly admitted students from all faculties of the University and “Yordanka Filaretova” Medical College, will take place in the courtyard of the Medical-Biological Complex at 2 Zdrave St.. The programme will then continue at the individual faculties.

On the same day, the Student Council will organise a First-Year Student Day across the University’s different units to introduce new students to the organisation of the study process and university life. Senior students will show them around the teaching facilities, main lecture halls and practical training rooms, and share useful information to help them take their first steps at the University. At the end of the day, every new student will receive their first guide to academic life – the First-Year Student Book.

We also look forward to welcoming all first-year students to the Central Medical Library, where we will introduce them to our services and the different ways they can access learning and research resources. We will offer a short tour of the reading rooms, and every new student will have the opportunity to register as a library user and receive their library card.
