Abstract. The continuous advancement of medical technologies and the increasing aging population lead to a growing demand for diagnostic imaging services. The X-ray laboratory technician profession offers a diverse range of career development opportunities, allowing for flexibility, creativity, and significant potential for advancement in this field. Radiology technicians must be able to provide high-quality services to patients by constantly improving their theoretical knowledge, communication skills, and creative approaches in various situations. Objective: To study the opinions of students from the X-ray Laboratory Technician program at the Medical College, MU – Plovdiv, regarding the establishment of an elective course in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Study Object: Students from the X-ray Laboratory Technician program during the academic years 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025. Material and Methods: An anonymous custom-designed survey was used. Data processing, analysis, and graphical representation were performed using the MS Excel 2019. Results: The survey results indicate that the majority of respondents wish to expand their preparation both practically and theoretically. Conclusion: MRI is one of the diagnostic imaging methods that has always sparked strong interest and great respect among students. Some perceive it as challenging to master due to its combination of topographic anatomy, physics, and clinical imaging diagnostics. Others see it as a challenge and eagerly pursue further knowledge in this field. The formation of an elective course in MRI is inspired precisely by the desire of those who are ready to delve into this rich and complex subject.
