Online e-repository
The Institutional Online Repository contains nearly 2200 dissertations, monographs, journal articles, lecture courses and other scientific works of MU – Sofia professors and other leading Bulgarian medical specialists. Created by the Central Medical Library in 2010, it is the first online electronic repository for medical publications in Bulgaria and the fifth such product in the country. All publications in the repository are freely available in full text under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International.

Objectives
Built in line with pan-European trends for open access to scientific information, the repository aims to:
- Promote the scientific achievements of the academic staff of MU – Sofia and students, as well as other Bulgarian medical specialists
- Stimulate medical open science
- Ensure long-term preservation of scientific publications
- Support the teaching and research of MU – Sofia
- Enrich the library collection
Software and integration
Since its inception, the repository has used the open source software DSpace. Metadata is automatically extracted in the Bulgarian Open Science Portal (bpos.bg) using the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting). The repository is indexed in OpenDOAR (Directory of Open Access Repositories) – the global online directory of open access repositories.
