Abstract. Hydroxychloroquine is a treatment for rheumatic diseases. It is considered safe during pregnancy and is preferred over the use of systemic corticosteroids. Continued use during pregnancy and lactation is recommended. Treatment with hydroxychloroquine is not associated with an increased risk of birth defects, miscarriages, fetal death, prematurity and reduced number of live births in patients with autoimmune diseases.
Key words: hydroxychloroquine; pregnancy; lactation; safety
