Abstract. Drug side effects, some of which are severe and even life-threatening, can also arise from medications administered in dermatological practice. Before prescribing therapy, an assessment of the benefit/risk ratio is required. Factors favoring the development of drug-induced reactions are age (early or advanced), pregnancy, and the liver or kidney failure. Drug reactions are developed through the immunological and non-immunological mechanisms. Adverse reactions to medications used in dermatological practice are presented.
Key words: adverse drug reactions, life-threatening drug reactions, dermatological therapy, benefit/risk ratio
