Abstract. Urethritis is a lower urinary tract infection causing inflammation of the urethra. The disease is common and affects both sexes. Urethritis is most often associated with sexually transmitted infections and can be: gonococcal or non-gonococcal. The most common symptoms of urethritis are leakage of urethral discharge, pain and burning during urination. The aim of this study is to determine the exact causes of urethritis in active male athletes. Material and methods: 54 men who are active athletes, with urethritis after casual sexual contacts without protection, aged 21 to 24 years, were studied. Results: in all, the causative agents of urethritis were identified and after treatment, a discussion was held about the risks of casual sexual contact without protection. We recommend preparing brochures about the consequences of promiscuous sex and leaving them in fitness centers. Another important recommendation is to train nurses to give presentations at universities across the country that vividly emphasize the consequences of unprotected casual sex.
