The education of patients with diabetes as a way to improve the quality of life

Abstract. The increasing number of chronically ill patients with diabetes emphasizes the need for education aimed at improving the overall care provided to patients with diabetes. This article examines the importance of education as a way to improve the quality of life of patients with diabetes. In addition to achieving knowledge and skills for self-control of diabetes, the training also aims to increase the patient’s motivation for cooperation and feedback with medical specialists. Lessons for diabetic patients is a project of an individual or group health education session where nurses have an essential role as trainers. Achieving and maintaining good health contributes to controlling socially significant diseases and increasing the length and quality of life.
