This paper examines a current problem of human resource management in healthcare ‒ the degree of manifestation of burnout syndrome among the administrative staff and lecturers of the Medical Faculty, Medical University, Sofia. Based on a thorough analysis of the results of large-scale surveys on the problem, the prevalence and extent of burnout syndrome in the surveyed persons were examined and evaluated through the voluntary anonymous questionnaire. The aim of the study was to establish the levels of stress and psychological resilience of employees, the negative consequences and impact of this phenomenon on their behavior and productivity, on efficiency of the organization as a whole. The relationship between burnout syndrome and the type of activities performed, the age and gender of employees, length of service in the organization and their working capacity were studied. The results are indicative of the need for additional research, including analysis of staff satisfaction and conducting medical examinations during a certain period in order to achieve objective and valuable analysis and result in terms of management of burnout syndrome. In order to manage burnout better, it is recommended to conduct research for students and staff in other faculties of the University.
