Opinion of dentists regarding their choice to work with a specific dental laboratory

Abstract. A dentist, a dental technician and a dental assistant form a team of specialists who take care of the dental health of patients by making dental prosthetic structures to restore the defects of the dental rows, orthodontic appliances to treat the defects of the dental rows and splints to stabilize the dental rows. The dentist is the team leader and determines with which laboratory to cooperate, taking into account a number of factors. The aim of the study is to investigate the opinion of dental doctors regarding the factors that motivate them when choosing to work with a specific dental laboratory. To achieve the goal, literary sources were studied and an anonymous survey was conducted. The object of study are 66 dentists from the cities of Varna, Burgas and Dobrich. Graphical and comparative analysis were used in presenting and interpreting the data. The following conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of the obtained results: approximately half of the dental doctors (56.10%) work with one to two dental laboratories; the main factors in their choice of laboratory are the professionalism of dental technicians (83.33%), correctness in the execution of orders (78.79%) and good communication skills (75.76%); a directly proportional relationship was established between the experience of dental doctors and the duration of their joint activity with a specific dental laboratory (r = 0.760; p < 0.001).
