Thyrotoxicosis in family medicine: clinical cases and practical recommendations

Abstract. Thyrotoxicosis is a commonly encountered clinical condition in general practice, where the primary interaction with the patient holds paramount importance in formulating a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment strategy. Given the myriad causes of thyrotoxicosis, general practitioners are tasked with heightened awareness and active engagement, often in collaboration with specialists in endocrinology and metabolic diseases. This article aims to present a series of clinical cases and provide practical guidelines for diagnosing and treating patients with thyrotoxicosis, as well as distinguishing between its various clinical manifestations.
