Abstract. The classic Saint’s triad includes diverticulosis of the colon, cholelithiasis and hiatal hernia. Herniosis is discussed as the main pathogenetic mechanism. In addition to the classical triad, we also observe its subvariants including hernias of different localization, diseases in and outside the gastrointestinal tract. The purpose of this publication is to present both the classical Saint triad and its variant forms.

Key words: Saint’s triad, diverticulosis, hernia, herniosis
