Abstract. Infective endocarditis is an inflammatory disease with high mortality and more often affects the aortic and mitral valves. Isolated endocarditis of pulmonary valve is observed extremely rarely in cardiological practice and is usually combined with endocarditis of the tricuspid valve. The presented clinical case refers to isolated infective endocarditis of pulmonary valve with more than one microbial cause, which is followed-up for more than 14 years. For early diagnosis and effective therapeutic behavior, the search for rarer causes, particularly in the cases with protracted course of fever of unknown origin, is recommended. Transthoracic echocardiography is a valuable diagnostic method, including also for the detection of a rare localization of endocarditis. The long-term follow-up of our patient for 14 years shows the slow evolution of right-side heart failure as a result of structural-functional heart pathology after infective endocarditis of pulmonary valve.
Key words: infective endocarditis, pulmonary valve
