Abstract. Sepsis remains one of the greatest medical problems and a challenge for any healthcare system. According to data from the World Health Organization for 2021, sepsis is a global health crisis. Hepatobiliary sepsis occurs as a progression of infection of the biliary tract or liver parenchyma, and is distinguished by the rapid development of multiple organ failure in late recognition and delay treatment. Modern scales for evaluating the risk of developing hepatobiliary sepsis, which are useful for clinicians to quickly establish the diagnosis or to assess the severity of the patient’s condition, are reviewed. Clinical guidelines are based on the changes in the functions of vital organs and systems in sepsis, which require the patient’s admission in emergency center as soon as possible.
