Abstract. Eyelid tumors account for 20% of head and neck lesions. Once a tumor is diagnosed, it needs to be classified and staged in order to choose the right treatment approach. The TNM classification is generally accepted for all oncological diseases. The proposed recommendations and rules of this classification are clinically not applicable to eyelid tumors, which necessitates consideration of other classifications and their combination. In ophthalmology, classifications based on their histomorphology have mainly been used, such as the proposed International Histological Classification of Tumors and published by WHO, as well as that of Singh and Kolavali. There is a statistical relationship between the localization of the tumor on the eyelid and its histology, which we have summarized and presented.
Key words: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, eyelid tumors, oculoplastic surgery
