Abstract. Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive eye disease that leads to irreversible vision loss and is one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide. Although the disease can be controlled, timely and accurate diagnosis is essential to prevent permanent damage. The aim of this article is to explore the role and challenges associated with the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of glaucoma. The main areas, in which AI can contribute to improving clinical practice are presented – including early detection of glaucomatous changes, personalized therapeutic approaches, and dynamic monitoring of disease progression. Despite promising results, the use of AI requires careful consideration of ethical, regulatory, and technological aspects necessary for its integration into real-world medical practice.

Key words: artificial intelligence, glaucoma, medical diagnosis, machine learning, automated image analysis
