Abstract. The „Athlete Triad” is a multifactorial syndrome involving three main interrelated components: frequent periods of eating disorders, menstrual disorders (oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea) and decreased bone density (osteoporosis/stress fractures). There is a significantly increased risk of cascading expansion of the pathological symptoms in women regularly dealing with intense physical activity ‒ active athletes and servicewomen. Prevention, early diagnosis and treatment started on time are essential for preventing the serious consequences of this triad and staying healthy.

Key words: athlete triad, eating disorders, amenorrhoea, osteoporosis, women in the military
