Abstract. Sepsis is a dangerous condition, requiring immediate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to control it. Hepatobiliary sepsis (HBS) is a type of surgical sepsis developed on the basis of progression and generalization of the infection of the gallbladder, biliary tract or liver abscess. It is a multidisciplinary problem. It requires exact steps to follow and the rules for their application for successful final results and outcomes. An algorithm for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with HBS is designed with main aim – education of the nurses. The presentation of contemporary requirements is essential for nurses, who take care of septic patients in a surgical or intensive care unit. It is necessary to keep them up to date with the latest information about algorithms of emergency care, which must be comprehensively implemented in the first hour of the onset of sepsis.
