Abstract. Primary care is an activity whose effects can be measured by the quality and satisfaction of the health services provided and received. In health care, “quality” is of the greatest importance to consumers, and through it the health status of the population is determined. Good quality leads to healthier people and less disability, lower costs and greater trust of the population in the health institution. Quality health care is the right of every patient, as patients are autonomous persons, the owners of their own health and come into contact with the health system only in case of some health problem. Due to limited resources and budget constraints, every country should focus on the quality of its health care as a top priority. The purpose of this publication is to briefly present the indicators determining the quality of primary medical care, as well as patient satisfaction with the care provided to them. Various literature sources providing information on primary care were studied. In Bulgaria, the level of quality of the medical care offered is not sufficiently high which is one of the main reasons for the deterioration of the health of the population and their dissatisfaction with the health reform.

Key words: indicators, quality, satisfaction, primary care
