Abstract. The nurse work life quality is defi ned as the extent, to which nurses are able to satisfy important personal needs through their organizational experiences while achieving organizational goals. In Bulgaria, a study of the quality of the professional life of nurses is needed to identify the factors that aff ect it, as well as for interventions to improve it. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between age and quality of nursing work life in active treatment hospitals. A cross-sectional study among 821 nurses from 18 hospitals in the Plovdiv region was conducted. To collect the data, the Brooks’ quality of nursing work life survey was used. The mean total QNWL score was 180.41±24.06, indicating a moderate level of QNWL. The study revealed that there was no statistically signifi cant relationship between age and QNWL (p > 0.05). The comprehensive results of this study have practical implications – the implementation of interventions designed to improve the professional life of nurses will lead to better patient care and lower staff turnover.
