Abstract. Background. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic kidney disease have been a growing medical problem in recent decades, which is associated with their increased incidence, the consumption of significant financial resources from the healthcare system for the treatment of these patients, and the high risk of death in them. The aim of this review is to present the current knowledge on the interrelation between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic kidney disease. We reviewed the existing literature in the medical databases PubMed and ScienceDirect, identifying more than three hundred publications on the issue, most of them from the last decade. Conclusion. Critically interpreting the literature data, we do not find conclusive evidence for the relationship between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic kidney disease. In our opinion, the relationship between them is their significant manifestation at a later age and the presence of common comorbidities.

Key words: : chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, comorbiditiesy
