Abstract. According to the literature, the most common eyelid tumors are basal cell carcinoma (BCC), Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), Sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) and melanoma malignum (MM), of which BCC is the most common. In our practice, the distribution between histological variants of malignant tumors for the last 10 years is: BCC – 71.9%, SCC – 16.7%, SGC – 4.2% and others – 7.2%. Information about the histological variant and the involvement of the resection lines is decisive for the surgical and therapeutic approach. Lack of histological control of the wound compromises the effect of the treatment.
Key words: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, eyelid tumors, oculoplastic surgery
