Abstract. Telehealth nursing is a rapidly growing field within telehealth that allows nurses to provide care to patients remotely through information and telecommunication technologies. This review study traces the evolution of telemedicine and its impact on nursing practice by examining its historical development, its transformation from telemedicine to nursing informatics and from there to telehealth, and highlights current applications and challenges in the sector. The introduction of telenursing not only improves access to health care but also optimizes resources and enhances the quality of services provided. Particular importance is attached to the role of telenursing during the COVID-19 pandemic, when telehealth services proved their vital role in maintaining continuity of care. Future perspectives related to technological innovations such as artificial intelligence and wearable devices, which may further transform nursing practice, are also analyzed.
